Dr. Bratt is a consultant urological surgeon at the Prostate Cancer Centre, Sahlgrenska University Hospital Gothenburg, Sweden. He is Chairman of the National Prostate Cancer Guidelines Group in Sweden.
Only 55% of American patients with low-risk prostate cancer go on active surveillance, UCSF researchers reported recently. Ten years ago, only 6% of of these men went on AS. In contrast, the rate is above 90% in Sweden, according to Ola Bratt, MD.
