You Can Help Support Our New Services by Donating to PCRI

I want to update you on some new things PCRI is doing to help the prostate cancer community. For the past few months, we at PCRI have been developing new educational programs that help patients learn about the disease quickly and efficiently. There are three programs that I want to highlight in this article.

Our mission is helping patients and caregivers research their treatment options, empowering them to make more informed decisions and to detect industry biases that don't align with their needs. PCRI is accomplishing this mission in three new ways. We want to help patients learn about

prostate cancer more quickly and efficiently. I want to highlight these three new programs: One, a YouTube channel; two, live webinars; and three, support group outreach. All of these new programs are free for patients and support groups and are made possible by the generous support that you give to PCRI.

YouTube Channel

I encourage you to check out our YouTube channel. Just type in “PCRI” into the query line in YouTube and our videos will come up. Alternatively, you can access these new videos at our website at pcri.org. We are regularly releasing new content that is relevant to prostate cancer patients and care- givers, providing answers to frequently asked questions. We also provide

a broad overview of the medical system surrounding prostate cancer that will quickly get you up to speed on available treatments, scans, and procedures.

Over the past few months, Dr. Scholz and I have been translating the Prostate Cancer Staging Guide from a print format into a video series. In the last few months, we have posted 60 new videos on prostate cancer. These short 5-minute videos provide a quick snapshot of each of the 15 stages of prostate cancer. In addition, there are videos on how to reduce or eliminate treatment related side effects. The videos will help you contextualize your individual case so that you can pick the best treatment, the one that is appropriate to your stage. Having a clear picture of your situation can help you work efficiently with your doctors to achieve a customized treatment plan, even in the limited time frame that constrain most doctors.

We are continuing to increase our content output with a new series that includes interviews with prostate cancer patients, support group leaders, and leading medical professionals. Please, subscribe! As the subscription base grows it leads to more patients finding us. Your involvement can have a direct effect on the lives of other prostate cancer patients and caregivers.

Live Webinars

We are taking our popular Prostate Cancer Conference format online! Starting this June we are hosting our first webinar. This event will feature a presentation from a medical professional, followed with by live Q&A from the online audience. You'll be able to get the latest information from leading professionals and get your questions answered, all from the convenience of your computer. We will be doing webinars on an ongoing basis, approximately every few months. Stay tuned by signing up for our newsletter for upcoming dates and topics.

Support Group Outreach

We've received a lot of feedback from support groups requesting additional educational materials and presentations to help men get answers to questions that they have. We are sending educational packages containing PCRI-produced videos along with copies of our staging guide, newsletters, and brochures. Having this kind of information helps to generate interest and discussion in each group and can give men a better support group experience. If you have a support group and would like these materials sent to you free of charge, please contact us at info@pcri. org to learn more.

Your financial support positively impacts the lives of the tens of thousands of people who reach out to us each year. Please consider donating and subscribing to our youtube channel via our website www.pcri.org. Your generosity makes all these new services possible!
